Membership

Membership Categories

There are two categories of IOHE Members: regular members and associate members.

Regular Membership is open to universities and other institutions of higher education that are members of a national association of institutions of higher education in their home countries (if any); that offer a minimum of three undergraduate programs and have already awarded degrees to at least two graduating classes of students.

Associate Membership is open to research centres, recognized within their own countries, whose activities could contribute to the development of the IOHE, as well as national, regional and international university associations that may contribute to the IOHE's presence in the country or region, and with which the IOHE wishes to establish cooperative links.

In both membership categories, member institutions are represented by their legal representatives, normally the institution's president.

Regular Members may participate in all proceedings, the General Assembly and other decision-making bodies of the Organization.

Associate Members may also take part in the General Assembly, with the right to speak but not to vote, but they are not eligible to participate in other decision-making proceedings.

All members, Regular or Associate, can request assistance from the Organization and participate events it sponsors. In turn, they must respect its statutes, as well as all rules derived from their application, conform to the decisions taken by the Organization's leadership and pay, when required, annual dues.
