What is EIESTEC?

Through its program Institute for University Management and Leadership (IGLU), the IOHE has identified THREE PRIORITIES regarding the field of technical and technological higher education:

  1. Integration: creation of a space to facilitate institutional collaboration, as well as identifying good practices and consolidated experiences;
  2. Training: to offer opportunities of professional development to managers and leaders of technical and technological education and;
  3. Research: to know more about the educational offer in the field.

In accordance with the first point, integration, the institutions of technical and technological higher education (IESTyTs) have created the Inter-American Space for Technical and Technological Higher Education (EIESTEC) that has been consolidated as the Americas meeting space par excellence for professionals of this sector.

During the last years have taken the following Conferences:

I EIESTEC

June 2014

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

II EIESTEC

September 2015

Santiago, Chile

From which comes the Conclusions document that will serve as justification to continue working on the consolidation of this space

III EIESTEC

Septembre 2016

Cali, Colombia

Declaration of Cali signature, where the following commitments are stablished :

  • To reinforce the institutions that offer technical and technological programs, along with other certificates, and
  • Promoting their managers and professors training

Now, the IV EIESTEC Conference will be held in October 16 -17 in Montreal, Canada, at the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE), with the special collaboration of the Quebec’s Fédération des cégeps.

In relation to priority 2, training, the IOHE, in collaboration with its associate members, organizes development activities for Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Directors, Academic Coordinators and other management positions. These activities are designed as a space for participants to strengthen inter-institutional linkages and explore key aspects of strengthening their management as leaders in education. These activities also address issues related to funding programs and scholarship systems, institutional paradigms, good administrative practices and current trends in the technical and technological education sector.
