IOHE signs new collaboration agreement with CONIF (Brazil) during the REDITEC 2017 colloquium
João Pessoa, Brazil, 22/11/2017.- The Inter-American Organization on Higher Education (OUI-IOHE) has signed a collaboration agreement with the National Council for the Federal Network of Vocational, Scientific and Technological Education Institutions (CONIF) of Brazil during the REDITEC 2017 colloquium held at the João Pessoa Convention Center in Brazil.
With this new agreement, both IOHE and CONIF put a spotlight on the importance of the technical and technological higher-education sector in the Americas while providing Brazilian institutions with access to the organization’s various programs -in particular the EIESTEC (Inter-American Space for Technical and Technological Higher Education), a continental forum mandated with advancing collaboration among institutions within this sector.
“We have been quite encouraged by the way in which EIESTEC has managed to position itself in some key countries across the continent in such a short time. However, despite the progress, we knew we had to work on establishing a strong link with Brazil. This agreement with CONIF not only helps us achieve that goal but it also strengthens the inter-American character of our organization”, said Dr. David Julien, Executive Director of IOHE, the only higher-education organization with a strong foothold across the Americas.
This agreement, which was signed right after the conclusion of the roundtable on “Learning, Research, Outreach and Internationalization” and in which IOHE was represented by Raúl Moya, President of the Instituto Profesional Los Lagos from Chile, will allow for the development of new means of collaboration between Brazilian institutions and their peers from other regions of the continent.
It is worth mentioning that the institutions represented at the colloquium have been invited to participate in the V EIESTEC Conference, which is expected to take place in October 2018 in the city of Punta Cana, Dominic Republic.
