UMAP Credit Transfer Scheme (UCTS)
The university students that participate in the exchange program of University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) should complete a formal study program consisting of a minimum period of one semester and a maximum of two semesters. This study program can be followed at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The university members of UMAP have designed a standard pilot project for the recognition of studies carried out by students at any of these institutions. The UMAP Credit Transfer System (UCTS) stems from the principles of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
The objective of UCTS credits is to increase student mobility. This is achieved by overcoming obstacles that occur during the assessment of academic activities, thus ensuring that the UCTS credits earned by students are a reflection of the quality and the research carried out during exchanges with other universities.
Products:
- UMAP Study Plan
The home and host universities are responsible for offering courses with related themes and based on an evaluation of similar credits.
- The relationship between UMAP university members
- UCTS Classification Scale
A typical student enrolled on a course will be assessed on the number of class hours attended and the amount of extra work done outside the classroom.
The assessment scale should be used as a reference for grade conversion at each university.
When calculating academic programs of two or three semesters with credits , a specific system is used. This system is based on the principle that the program should offer sixty credits for the entire academic year and thirty credits for a semester.
